Frequently Asked Questions
“Best PT experience I’ve had!! She gave me exercises that were sustainable for my busy life as a mom, and yet I saw pretty immediate results.” -Julia
What makes Mobile Mom PT Different?
At Mobile Mom PT, care looks a little different. It’s not just about your pelvic floor — it’s about your whole body and how everything works together. Dr Katie Hedlund focuses solely on women so you know you will have someone who understands you and your body. Sessions are 60 minutes long, and you will work with Dr. Katie every session rather than being tossed around between multiple therapists. Session frequency is anywhere from once a week to every other week to monthly depending on the specific client.
What sets you apart?
1:1 care every time. You will not work with a tech or an aide and will never be working alongside another client. You will work with Dr Katie for the duration of your plan of care.
Hour long treatment sessions rather than only 20-30 minutes with your therapist
Whole body approach rather than just focusing on the problem area of the body. Oftentimes women have multiple problem areas, but no provider can connect these areas to make sense. Dr Katie understands the body so intimately that she is able to make sense of all of the symptoms you may be experiencing.
Postural Restoration Approach: Dr Katie teaches clients how to use specific body movement and breath to build a strong and balanced foundation for your body. This is ideal for women looking to take an active part in their recovery journey and have tools to last a lifetime rather than to sit on a treatment table for the entirety of therapy sessions.
“What she taught me has changed the way I exercise and will improve my overall health, posture, and self-esteem long term.”
Can you help my problem?
Yes! Whether you are dealing with chronic pelvic pain, leaking when you run or jump, excruciating sciatic or back pain during pregnancy, or even foot pain, Dr Katie is equipped to figure out what is causing your issue and how to fix it.
I’ve been to PT before and it didn’t help, can you still help?
Absolutely. Many clients express how working with Dr Katie is different than anything they have ever tried before. You will not be working on specific muscles or pain spots, instead, you will be working on larger scale movement patterns to help alleviate your symptoms. Most clients feel a difference in their body as a whole after a few sessions.
Is doing Kegels enough?
Kegels are a pelvic floor strengthening exercise that are oftentimes broadly prescribed by doctors and other medical professionals for pelvic floor issues. Oftentimes, kegels don’t work and can even make things worst. In fact, Dr Katie rarely prescribes kegels in isolation. So no, kegels will not fully fix your issue.
What will my first session look like?
When you arrive, you’ll settle into the comfortable waiting area inside Vital Health Massage and send Dr. Katie a quick text to let her know you’re there. She’ll meet you promptly and bring you back to her cozy treatment room.
Your first visit begins with a relaxed conversation about your story, concerns, and goals — no rushing, no judgment. From there, Dr. Katie will complete a head-to-toe evaluation, watching how you walk and move, and performing gentle tests to assess your posture, breathing patterns, and overall body coordination to problem solve what is contributing to your problem.
You’ll receive hands-on treatment during your first visit and leave with a simple, personalized action step to start right away at home. Together, you and Dr. Katie will create a clear plan for your care — designed to help you reach your goals and feel your best.
“Within one session, my back pain [during pregnancy] was significantly better. I went from needing Tylenol and Lidocane patches to walk to being pain free within a few sessions.” - Jasmin
Do I need a prescription from my Doctor?
No. You are able to just schedule your evaluation on your own. With your permission, I will send information over to your physician so they are aware that we are working together. But, you do not need to see your physician first to get started.
Will I be with Dr Katie every time?
Yes. It’s so important that your therapist fully understands your body and this only is able to happen when you work with the same therapist each session.
How long are appointments?
Appointments are 55- 60 minutes long. Two hour sessions may also be booked for women traveling far distances to see Dr Katie.
Will I see an aide or a student?
No. You will work 1:1 with Dr Katie every session for the entirety of your treatment plan.
How long is your waitlist?
I work hard to keep space available and open for new clients. Typically I book evaluations 1-2 weeks out.
How often will I need to come?
Dr Katie oftentimes starts seeing clients weekly for a handful of sessions and then once we start noticing changes happening in the body we will space out accordingly. Dr Katie sees clients weekly, every other week, monthly, and even quarterly as needed.
