Education

Understanding your Body in Pregnancy and Birth

  • Understand how your body changes posturally during pregnancy and how this impacts the pelvic floor and birth

  • learn how to feel less “pain” during labor

  • Learn how the pelvic floor works during labor and delivery

  • Learn each stage of labor and ways to support “pelvis opening” movements for each stage

A pelvic floor therapist assists a pelvic floor client through a postural exercise to support her body postpartum.

Preparation:

Moving with Confidence Movement is one of the most powerful tools for birth.

  • Learn and Practice Labor positioning and breathing strategies to support pelvic balance and baby positioning through pelvis during each stage of labor.

  • Learn the different types of pushing, how to push productively, and different position options for pushing.

  • Learn and practice different hands on pain management techniques and tools to help open pelvis

Prevention:

Learn how to protect your pelvic floor and support healing in the weeks that follow.

  • Learn strategies to reduce risk of severe tearing during birth

  • Learn how to effectively release the pelvic floor prior to delivery

  • learn simple ways to support the pelvic floor immediately postpartum
